  • Annemarie Slobbe

    Annemarie Slobbe

To emphasize the omnipresent state of impermanence in life, Annemarie Slobbe (The Netherlands, 1990) uses time as a central component in her practice. Rhythmic shapes arise on her canvas, only to transform and disappear into the void. She processes her materials to create compositions that are receptive to the changing daylight; This results in a constant movement game between the spectator and the work. The layer of changeability within her work acts as a visual reference to the fact that we do not always have control over life, but that there is balance to be found in the acceptance of transformation. Unconventional use of colour, compelling brushstrokes, pulsating repetitive movements and the continuous play with (day) light cause a visual spacewalk that you would like to be part of with Annemarie Slobbe as your guide. Annemarie Slobbe lives and works in the Netherlands

  • Emmanuelle Leblanc

    Emmanuelle Leblanc

Born in France in 1977 Emmanuelle Leblanc lives and works in Bordeaux. After getting her MFA from the Toulouse University, she obtained a postgraduate diploma in Design specialising in the study of colour. Stemming from portrait tradition and photo-realism, Emmanuelle's work evolves toward abstract minimalism, which tends to perpetuate the Color Field Experience practices. Thus, through her small or large canvases and sometimes, sculptural installations, the significance of the "figurative" image tends to gradually disappear only to re-emerge accidentally. The delicate, profound and diffuse colour variations of her paintings, offer a form of atmospheric synthesis of space, of moments or images traversed by memory. The hand of the artist disappears through the surface immateriality only to bring a sensorial and meditative experience to the viewer. In search of the sublime, it is a painting, which strives to re-activate a certain notion of aura. Emmanuelle Leblanc had exhibitions at art institutions and galleries in France and abroad like the Courtauld Institute (GB), Museo San Prisco (It), Keitelman gallery (Be), Kalakriti gallery (In), galerie Xenon (Fr), galerie Achiraar (Be). She has been shortlisted consecutively in 2013 and 2014 for the Prix International de Peinture of Vitry-sur-Seine. Her work is in private collections in Europe.

  • Lisette van Hoogenhuyze

    Lisette van Hoogenhuyze

Lisette van Hoogenhuyze's wall pieces and installations consist of multiple layers, patterns and colour arrangements inspired by different visual motifs that appear in leisure culture. Travelling frequently, the artist developed a particular interest in the way people behave at the beach. The beach is a place of fantasy, for slowing down, daydreaming, sweating and compulsively enjoying the moment.  Interested in the way we are forced to exchange our chosen fashion and identity for a sort of 'beach uniform', the artist researches the changes in our behaviour and the way we see each other. Assimilating these universal patterns and visual language, van Hoogenhuyze takes you through different approaches on contemporary culture in a recognizable yet unfamiliar way. Lisette currently lives and works in Portugal.
